So I have a new Windows 8.1 pro machine, indexing is setup correctly, permissions in folders are set properly as well. I cannot search inside my Google Drive folder. All my other folders are fine – Dropbox, Documents folder – all work and search fine. I even re-indexed entire profile directory and ensured my Google Drive folder was selected. Still no luck. Frustrating!
I just found the fix today in Google forums – turn off index for the Google Drive folder:
Open folder, select ‘View’, select the drop down arrow under ‘Option’, then select ‘Change folder and search options’, >’Search’ and select ‘ ‘Don’t use the index when searching in file folders for system files’ and ‘Apply’.
Search is working perfectly now!
